HKA Leigha

Hi my My name is Leigha Denne, I started Kickboxing when I was 3 years old.

I started kickboxing because my parents Carl Denne and Jenny Fry taught Kickboxing classes, I like to do Kickboxing because I find it helpful to let my anger out.

I became a mini-coach when I was 8 years old, by this time my parents weren’t just teaching classes, they had a massive club called HKA. At the age of 8 years old, I was the first person of HKA to take on the role of a helper/mini-coach. I was helping out at the after-school clubs mainly, but always helped when my parents needed me.

I was made an official coach in 2019 age 13, I have completed my level 1 and 2 coaches courses have done my first aid course and I am a purple belt. There are 7 belts and I am now on my 5th belt. I feel like as time goes on, I am improving and succeeding my goals. I feel if someone is hurt or injured, I am confident enough to be able to help them as I have had the correct training. I will continue to do more courses in the future to make me even better.

I enjoy coaching and helping others, if anyone has a question I am able to help and answer them. In HKA I have made good friends and I feel like I can talk to them about anything. When I am older I want to be an actor on the stage, or a dance teacher. Kickboxing and being a coach is helping with my confidence, and making me not be scared talking to new people at the gym. I find that my fitness is improving and will carry on improving.

In 2019 we had our own big fight night show, and I was able to talk and open the whole show in front of hundreds of people I enjoy going out to kickboxing competitions and watching everyone fight. I really like seeing everyone improve. It makes me really happy to see everyone trying hard, smiling and having fun.
Sometimes when I go to competitions I am now in the corner, I listen to Carl and Jenny. (mum and dad) and what they say, as when I am older I will have an idea of what to do. I am always going to want to carry on Kickboxing and be an instructor one day.
